Protect yourself from immigration fraud

#FPM2024

What is Fraud Prevention Month?

Fraud Prevention Month (FPM) is an annual campaign that begins on March 1 to help consumers recognize, reject, and report fraud.

In support of this year’s campaign, the ǧ½¿Ö±²¥ is raising awareness about how people can protect themselves from Canadian immigration fraud.

Our message is simple: If you choose to work with an immigration consultant for Canadian immigration matters, check that they are licensed by the College on our Public Register.

The College’s multi-lingual social media campaign will include social media posts in French, English, Mandarin, Tagalog and Hindi and will be displayed domestically and in markets including Nigeria, China, Philippines and India, some of the top source countries of prospective immigrants to Canada.

We encourage the public to join the conversation this month by following the hashtag #FPM2024.

What is the Public Register?

The Public Register is an important tool to help protect the public from immigration fraud.

All licensed Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultants (RCICs) and Regulated International Student Immigration Advisors (RISIAs) are listed on the Public Register. By using the Public Register, the public can avoid working with an Unauthorized Practitioner (UAP).

A UAP is anyone who illegally provides Canadian immigration advice for a fee or other consideration without being licensed by the College, a Canadian law society, or the Chambre des notaires du Québec.
