The Strengthening Canada's Immigration System and Borders Act  (Bill C-12) received Royal Assent and became law on March 26, 2026.
Bill C-12 made amendments to Canada’s immigration and asylum claim system, including changes to:
- Eligibility requirements for new claims
- Asylum process
- Information sharing
- Immigration document and application authorities
As per section 19(2)(a) of the , licensees are reminded that it is their responsibility to keep up to date about changes in the immigration field and advise clients accordingly.
