The New-Licensee Mentoring Program is mandatory for Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultants (RCICs) who received their Letter of Authority on or after July 1, 2022. Specifically, the mandatory program is required of all Class L1 RCICs and Class L3 RCIC-IRBs licensed after July 1, 2022, to meet the conditions of their licence.

This mentoring program is designed to enhance competence and promote ethical practice through hands-on experience in a group setting. It involves a period of practical experience for new RCICs under the guidance of an experienced licensee, followed by formal assessments.

All new RCICs must register for the program when directed to do so by the College. Email notifications will be sent to required licensees before each session.

The College offers RCICs 2 opportunities to pass the program. Failure to register and complete the program may result in the suspension or revocation of licence.

If an RCIC is unsuccessful after 2 attempts, their name will be forwarded to the Registrar for review. Per section 11.2 of the New-Licensee Mentoring Program Policy, an RCIC’s attempt may be unsuccessful if they:

  • Fail to complete registration requirements.
  • Receive a grade of F (Failure).
  • Are removed from the program for a violation of the Code, regulations or policies.
